• 2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 tbsp. cold unsarted buter, cubed (3/4 stick)
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract


  1. line large baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. mix flour, sugar, baking power, and salt in large mixing bowl
  3. add butter, cutting it into dry ingredients until pea-sized crumbs form
  4. in separate bowl, whisk heavy whipping cream, egg, and vanilla until fully combined
  5. combine wet and dry ingredients
  6. scoop mixture onto floured surface, working together into a ball
  7. flatten into a 7-inch circle
  8. slice into eights
  9. place on baking sheet, keeping space between pieces
  10. chill in freezer for 10 minutes
  11. brush scones with heavy whipping cream
  12. bake 18-22 minutes until lightly browned and cooked through
  13. cool before serving


After mixing wet and dry ingredients, consistency may be crumbly.

Dough slices can be frozen overnight.
