Ingredients
tofu:
- 1 block firm tofu
- vegetable oil for frying
scallion sauce:
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 2 tbsp. light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1/4 tsp. mushroom seasoning powder
- 2 tbsp. chopped scallion
Directions
- wrap tofu in paper towels and press under heavy object for a few minutes
- cut into 1.5 inch cubes
- heat oil until bubbles form around a chopstick
- fry tofu until golden on all sides
- drain on paper towels
- combine sauce ingredients in a bowl
- dip hot tofu into scallion sauce and remove immediately
- tofu absorbs sauce better while still hot
- scallion will cling to the pieces
- serve with rice
